NEW DELHI: The Railways informed Parliament on Friday that 336 railway employees died due to Covid-19 and 14,714 of its employees were infected by the coronavirus.
In a written reply in Rajya Sabha, railway minister Piyush Goyal said the maximum of 67 Covid fatalities were reported from the Central Railway zone, which largely covers Maharashtra and parts of Madhya Pradesh and Karnataka. The second highest number of such deaths were registered in the South Central Railway which predominantly serves Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Maharashtra and parts of Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Madhya Pradesh.
